Retention Pond Aeration & Treatment

Retention & Stormwater Pond Aeration and Treatment in Canada

Retention Pond Aeration

Control algae, reduce weeds and eliminate water odour

Many of the issues commonly facing retention and stormwater ponds can be addressed with a properly sized aeration system. Aeration reduces phosphates, reduces sedimentation rates, and encourages nutrients and organics to break down up to 10x faster. Aeration also prompts water circulation, eliminating the problems that occur from stagnant water including smelly water, (from released hydrogen gas) unwanted aquatic vegetation and sludge buildup. Retention Pond Chemical Treatment

Reduce algae, address turbidity and kill ecoli

Aeration can solve many retention pond issues however chemical treatment to address algae, turbidity or bacteria is sometimes needed. Flocculents and floc logs are industrial grade, quick-acting clarifiers that aid the filtration of suspended organics and quickly decrease turbidity. While not a chemical, pond dye is another aid to reduce algae and weed growth, which works by blocking the sunlight. Additional chemical treatments including NSF certified algaecides are available - contact our team at sales@pondpro.ca for recommendations on chemical treatments to address issues in your retention ponds.

Retention Pond & Stormwater Pond Bioremediation and Biological Treatments

Reduce unwanted weed growth, control algae, limit sludge build up and restore ecosystem

Many retention pond issues can be addressed with all-natural bioremediation bacteria treatments which work to restore the natural aerobic ecosystem.  Bacteria treatments are very safe, all-natural treatments which introduce beneficial bacteria, enzymes and minerals to the pond. As these bacteria multiply, they eat away at the sludge and muck in the pond, as well as the nutrients that algae and weeds would otherwise live off of.  This bioremediation also reduces phosphates, breaks down organics, reduces odour and lowers pH. These chemical-free treatments are completely safe, even in large doses, for livestock and wildlife.
