The Air-O-Lator Ice-Away 1/2HP De-Icer utilizes a scientifically engineered high-speed propeller, capable of lifting 500 gallons of water per minute to the surface while drawing warmer water from below. The motor mount/diffuser design redirects the water flow outward, providing a larger coverage area compared to competing products. For every foot of propeller depth, the Ice-Away can maintain an 8-foot diameter area of open water. The typical suspended depth ranges from approximately 5 to a maximum of 8 feet.
To ensure reliable performance, the Ice-Away features a powerful stainless steel submersible motor, which is water-cooled and lubricated. Unlike many competitors who use oil-filled motors with seals and gaskets that can deteriorate over time, leading to oil leaks in your pond or lake, this motor has no such vulnerabilities.
With the optional float, the Ice-Away is suitable for ponds or lakes, keeping areas open for ducks, geese, and other waterfowl, as well as preventing winter fish kills by maintaining open water areas.
