Description

Clearflow Gel Block Flocculant 494

Clearflow Gel Block Flocculant 494 is a solid gel-block flocculant designed to support water clarification in flowing-water applications. As water passes over the block, the product gradually releases flocculant into the water stream, helping condition fine suspended particles so they can bind more effectively during the flocculation process.

Gel Block 494 is commonly used as a pre-treatment aid for water containing suspended sediment, fine particulate matter, turbidity, and site-specific inorganic constituents. It is often used ahead of, or in combination with, compatible downstream flocculants to improve settling and clarification performance.

This product is intended for use in municipal, industrial, construction, stormwater, and wastewater treatment applications where suspended solids management and water clarification are required. Performance will depend on water chemistry, flow conditions, sediment loading, contact time, product placement, and the overall treatment system design.

For best results, product selection should be confirmed through site-specific water testing or bench-scale evaluation before full-scale use.

This product causes flocculation (as part of pre-treatment). For coagulation and sinking, please see ClearFlow 360 gel.

Features & Benefits

  • Solid gel-block format for passive flocculant release in flowing water
  • Supports clarification of water containing suspended sediment and fine particulate matter
  • Helps condition particles for improved downstream flocculation and settling
  • Suitable for flowing-water treatment applications
  • Can be used as part of a staged treatment process with compatible flocculants
  • Commonly used in stormwater, construction, municipal, industrial, and wastewater treatment settings
  • Performance is site-specific and depends on water chemistry, flow rate, sediment loading, and system design
  • Cost-Effective – Low capital and operational costs, with no additional energy required for operation.
  • Easy to Use – Ready-to-use blocks that require minimal setup and maintenance.

Specifications

  • Block Size: 9" (L) x 5" (W) x 2.5" (H)
  • Coverage: 20,000 m³ per block
  • Flow Rate: 50 to 100 GPM
  • pH Range: 3-12
  • Temperature Range: 4°C to 100°C
  • Application Time: Minimum 30 minutes for proper hydration
  • Long-lasting, self-limiting release
  • Requires flow to activate flocculant release, with optimal velocity between 0.3m/s (1 foot/sec) and 1.5m/s (5 feet/sec)

Applications

  • Ideal for treatment of trade-effluent water, stormwater clarification, and sediment control in water systems
  • Used with aeration, waterfalls or fountain equipment to control sediment in ponds and water features.
  • Pumped flows using Pipe Reactors systems.

How It Works

The Clearflow Gel Flocculant blocks are designed to be suspended in flowing water, where they release flocculant through flow energy. As the water moves over the block, the flocculant is activated, helping to bind suspended solids and improve water clarity.
