Description

Pond Pro® Muck Pellets Beneficial Bacteria Pucks

Pond Pro® Muck Pellets are a Canadian-made beneficial bacteria product supplied in a convenient sinking pellet format for ponds and lakes.

Each pellet delivers a 2 billion beneficial bacteria concentration directly to the bottom of the waterbody, where organic matter and bottom sediment commonly accumulate. The sinking format lets you place the bacteria where biological activity is most needed, rather than leaving them only in the water column.

Muck Pellets support the natural biological breakdown of accumulated organic material and are well suited for ongoing pond and lake maintenance. Best results are typically achieved when they are used consistently and combined with adequate aeration and water circulation.

Please Note: Current batches of Muck Pellets may be white instead of blue. This is only a colour variation and does not change the formula or intended performance. Depending on remaining inventory, we may still ship some blue pellets.

Beneficial Bacteria Delivered Directly to the Pond Bottom

Unlike products that are designed primarily to disperse through the water column, Muck Pellets sink to the bottom of the pond or lake after application.

This places beneficial bacteria directly where leaves, plant material, fish waste, and other organic matter can accumulate over time.

The bacteria support natural biological activity that helps process this organic material as part of an ongoing pond or lake maintenance program.

How Pond Pro® Muck Pellets Work

After you distribute the pellets across the waterbody, they sink to the bottom and release beneficial bacteria into the surrounding sediment and organic material.

These microorganisms support the natural decomposition of accumulated organic matter. Because biological activity depends on suitable environmental conditions, performance can be influenced by factors such as water temperature, oxygen availability, circulation, organic loading, and application consistency.

Aeration and water circulation can help support the biological process by improving oxygen availability and overall water movement throughout the pond or lake.

Canadian-Made Beneficial Bacteria

Pond Pro® Muck Pellets are made in Canada, with the beneficial bacteria fermented in Canada for use in Canadian pond and lake applications.

  • Golf course ponds
  • Residential developments

Muck Pellets are particularly useful where organic material tends to accumulate along the bottom of the waterbody.

Application Instructions

Easy Sinking Pellet Application

Distribute the Muck Pellets across the surface of the pond or lake, focusing on areas where organic material or bottom sediment tends to accumulate.

The pellets will sink through the water column and settle along the bottom of the waterbody.

For best results, distribute the product as evenly as practical across the intended treatment area and follow the application rate provided on the product directions.

Consistent application, adequate aeration, and good water circulation can help support the biological activity of the beneficial bacteria.

Muck or Muck PLUS?

Muck or Muck PLUS Formula - Which One Is Right for You?

Choose Muck Pellets When:

  • The pond or lake is receiving routine maintenance
  • Organic loading is relatively moderate
  • You want targeted beneficial bacteria delivered to bottom sediments
  • Seasonal maintenance and organic matter management are the primary concerns
  • A standard-strength sinking bacteria formula is appropriate

Muck Pellets contain a 2 billion beneficial bacteria concentration.

Choose Muck Pellets PLUS When:

  • The pond or lake has higher organic loading
  • Greater amounts of leaves, vegetation, fish waste, or other organic material accumulate
  • The waterbody has heavier bottom sediment or muck accumulation
  • The pond or lake is larger or more challenging to maintain
  • A higher-concentration sinking bacteria formula is preferred
  • More intensive biological maintenance is desired

Muck Pellets PLUS contain a 5 billion beneficial bacteria concentration, providing 2.5 times the concentration of standard Muck Pellets.

Standard Pond Pro® Muck Pellets are suitable for most routine pond and lake maintenance applications, while Muck Pellets PLUS provide a higher-concentration option for waterbodies with greater organic loading or more demanding maintenance requirements.

Both formulas use a convenient sinking pellet format to deliver beneficial bacteria directly to the bottom of the waterbody and are available in multiple sizes for different pond and lake applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Muck Pellets?

Pond Pro® Muck Pellets are sinking beneficial bacteria pellets designed to deliver biological activity directly to the bottom of ponds and lakes where organic material commonly accumulates.

Why Do the Pellets Sink?

The sinking format delivers beneficial bacteria directly to bottom sediments and areas where leaves, plant material, and other organic matter tend to accumulate.

How Do I Apply Muck Pellets?

Distribute the pellets across the pond or lake, concentrating on areas where organic material commonly accumulates. The pellets will sink to the bottom after application.

Does Aeration Help?

Aeration and circulation can support beneficial bacteria by improving oxygen availability and water movement throughout the pond or lake.

Why Are Some Muck Pellets White Instead of Blue?

Current batches may be white instead of blue. This is only a colour variation and does not change the formula or the product's intended performance.

Can Muck Pellets Be Used Around Fish and Plants?

    Seeing Results

Posted by Nicole Dafoe on 6th Jul 2023

I'm seeing results using this product, especially when entering my pond from the beach. Last year, when I first stepped in, it was all gross with a mucky sinking bottom. Now, the beach sand is present and the gunk is gone and I can go up to my knees without sinking into the mucky bottom. Hopefully year after year this product cleans up the pond to where it is a nice clear sandy bottom.

    Very Effective Muck Reduction

Posted by Vin on 11th Apr 2021

I have used this product over the years and it is superb.. I had a lot of muck at the bottom of my acre pond that attracts many fall leaves and wherever the pellets dropped created about 1 ft wide crater of 6 inch depth .. Pondpro also matches latest offers if you miss it by a few weeks I am very impressed they shipped additional 2.5 Kg promotion offer which came 3 week after I had already ordered .. One suggestion though .. Please mention the strength of your muck product instead of using the term PLUS or Lake Plua etc .. Pondpro has 3 strengths of each product 1Bn, 2 and 5Bn bacteria and they should mention it clearly on the title for customers to make an informed decision
