Description

Create a Rich Blue Finish with Pond Pro® Pro Blue Pond & Lake Dye

Enhance the appearance of your pond, lake, or dugout with easy-to-use Pond Pro® Pro Blue Pond & Lake Dye.

Pond Pro® Pro Blue Pond & Lake Dye is designed to enhance the visual appearance of ponds, lakes, dugouts, and other closed, non-flowing bodies of water. Its rich blue colour creates a deeper, more refined appearance that complements natural landscapes, acreages, recreational properties, and decorative water features.

The convenient water-soluble packets are pre-measured for easy application. Simply release the inner packet into the water and allow it to dissolve and disperse throughout the waterbody.

Each packet treats up to 400,000 gallons of water, making Pro Blue a practical option for larger ponds, lakes, and dugouts where consistent colour and straightforward application are important.

This product will not ship during freezing temperatures.

Why Use Pond & Lake Dye?

Pond and lake dye provides a simple way to enhance the appearance of a waterbody without changing its physical shape or surrounding landscape.

Pro Blue adds a rich blue tone that can help create a deeper, cleaner-looking visual finish. It can be used throughout the season to refresh the appearance of ponds, lakes, dugouts, and decorative water features as colour naturally fades or becomes diluted over time.

How Pond Pro® Pro Blue Works

Pro Blue is supplied in pre-measured water-soluble packets. After the outer packaging is removed, the inner packet is released directly into the pond or lake.

The water-soluble packet dissolves after application, releasing the dye into the water. Normal water movement and circulation then help distribute the colour throughout the waterbody.

Colour intensity may vary depending on water volume, depth, existing water colour, clarity, circulation, weather, and the amount of dye applied.

The packet will dissolve after application and release the dye into the water. Normal water movement and circulation will help distribute the colour throughout the waterbody.

For larger waterbodies, application location and the number of packets required will depend on the total water volume and desired colour intensity.

Always follow the application rates, directions, and precautions provided on the Pond Pro® Pro Blue product label.

Safety & Precautions

Safe Handling and Application

We recommend wearing gloves while handling the concentrated dye to help avoid temporary staining.

If the dye comes into contact with your skin, it can generally be removed with several rinses.

To allow the dye time to disperse properly, avoid swimming or introducing pets to the treated water during the first 24 hours after application.

Always follow the directions, precautions, and intended uses stated on the product label.

Great dye, but potential packaging problem

Posted by Martin Knauber on 27th Apr 2026

The dye works great. However, you should be aware that the powder is extremely fine -comparable perhaps to printer toner or charcoal powder. It's almost like smoke. This means the powder will blow all over you if you're not extremely careful. We were very pleased with the product, which comes in a water soluble bag that is packed into a sealed aluminum pouch. Unfortunately, however, the inner bags were all damaged (perhaps during transport) and so it was almost impossible to remove the inner bag without producing a cloud of blue smoke. Tossing the bags into the lake then also was somehow problematic. Because the bags were damaged, the dye blew out of the bag when throwing it into the lake. My suggestion is to open the sealed packs very carefully inside a bucket and then deploy them closer to the edge of the water instead of throwing them out into the middle of the pond or lake. It would be good however, if the PondPro could perhaps look into the packaging of the dye and improve it to the point that the dye would stay completely sealed within the water soluble bag until it actually hits the water.

Pond Pro Blue Pond and Lake Dye

Posted by Matthew Wiecha on 5th Sep 2025

Finally! I gave up on WSP pond dye inside a foil wrap years ago. I had no complaints about the quality of the dye but often some of the contents leaked out and led to some blue nightmares ,lots of others online had the same experience. I switched to double wrapped WSP, a vast improvement but the odd little issue. I was promised this new inner wrap was more solid. Bottom line, this is awesome stuff ,great colour great coverage, the inner wrap has a whole different solid feel ,not recommended but after using the first package, I was so impressed I threw the next couple with my bare hands. No issues and you could see that the WSP took a few more minutes to disintegrate. This will be my new go to pond dye. Finally, my trout made it through our hot dry summer. I credit night time aeration only and the shade provided by pond dye and yes,the dye helps with predators, cormorants fly over and no longer bother to land.

Great product. This is my second year using the product to help control weeds in our large pond. The pond looks great and the blue colour looks very natural. As a bonus the customer service has been excellent.
