Description

Pond Pro® Bio-dredge Industrial Strength Beneficial Bacteria Pucks

Pond Pro® Bio-dredge is a Canadian-made beneficial bacteria product supplied in a convenient sinking puck format for ponds, lakes, lagoons, and other managed waterbodies. Each puck contains 5 billion bacteria and sinks directly to the bottom of the waterbody, where sludge, muck, and accumulated organic material commonly collect.

Bio-dredge is designed as a strong biological maintenance option for waterbodies with heavier organic loading, greater bottom sediment accumulation, or more demanding maintenance requirements.

For best results, use Bio-dredge consistently as part of a broader maintenance program that includes adequate aeration where appropriate.

Beneficial Bacteria Delivered Directly to Bottom Sediments

Bio-dredge pucks are designed to sink through the water column and settle directly along the bottom of the pond, lake, lagoon, or other waterbody. This places the beneficial bacteria where leaves, vegetation, fish waste, and other organic material can accumulate over time. The bacteria support the natural biological decomposition of this accumulated organic material as part of an ongoing maintenance program.

How Pond Pro® Bio-dredge Works

After application, the Bio-dredge pucks sink to the bottom of the waterbody and release their beneficial bacteria into the surrounding sediment and accumulated organic material.

The product contains a combination of bacteria and enzymes that supports the natural biological breakdown of available organic matter.

Biological activity can be influenced by water temperature, oxygen availability, circulation, organic loading, and application consistency. Aeration and water movement can help support this process by improving oxygen availability and circulation throughout the waterbody.

Canadian-Made Beneficial Bacteria

Pond Pro® Bio-dredge is made in Canada, with the beneficial bacteria fermented in Canada for use in Canadian ponds, lakes, lagoons, and water-management applications.

Applications

Pond Pro® Bio-dredge may be used for biological maintenance in a range of managed waterbodies, including:

  • Ponds
  • Lakes
  • Lagoons
  • Dugouts
  • Beaches and recreational water areas
  • Industrial water applications
  • Irrigation systems
  • Swimming ponds
  • Wildlife habitats

Bio-dredge is particularly useful where organic material, sludge, or muck tends to accumulate along the bottom of the waterbody.

Application Instructions

Easy Sinking Puck Application

Evenly distribute Bio-dredge across the intended treatment area so the pucks can sink directly to the bottom of the waterbody.

Begin seasonal applications once the ice has completely melted and water temperatures are above 3°C.

For an initial heavier treatment, apply approximately 5 kg per acre.

Apply maintenance treatments every 2 to 4 weeks. Applications every two weeks may be preferred where faster biological activity is desired or where the waterbody has heavier organic loading or eutrophic conditions.

For best results, distribute the product as evenly as practical and follow the application rates, directions, and precautions provided with the product.

Aeration and good water circulation can help support biological activity by improving oxygen availability and water movement throughout the treatment area.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Bio-dredge?

Bio-dredge is a sinking beneficial bacteria puck designed to deliver bacteria directly to bottom sediments and accumulated organic material in ponds, lakes, lagoons, and other managed waterbodies.

How Much Bacteria Does Each Puck Contain?

Each Bio-dredge puck contains 5 billion bacteria.

Why Does Bio-dredge Sink?

The sinking format places the beneficial bacteria directly along the bottom of the waterbody where sludge, muck, and organic material commonly accumulate.

When Can I Begin Applying Bio-dredge?

Begin seasonal applications after the ice has completely melted and water temperatures are above 3°C.

What Is the Initial Application Rate?

A heavier initial treatment of approximately 5 kg per acre may be used at the beginning of the treatment program.

How Often Should Bio-dredge Be Applied?

Maintenance applications are generally made every 2 to 4 weeks. More frequent two-week applications may be used where faster results are desired or where the waterbody is eutrophic.

Does Aeration Help?

Aeration and water circulation can help support biological activity by improving oxygen availability and water movement throughout the treatment area.

Can Bio-dredge Be Used Around Fish and Plants?

Bio-dredge may be used around fish, plants, birds, and other wildlife when applied according to product directions.

What Sizes Are Available?

Bio-dredge is available in 5 kg and 12.5 kg packages.

Is Bio-dredge Made in Canada?

Yes. Pond Pro® Bio-dredge is made in Canada, and its beneficial bacteria are fermented in Canada.

Industrial-Strength Biological Support for Bottom Organic Matter

Pond Pro® Bio-dredge provides a convenient way to deliver a high concentration of beneficial bacteria directly to bottom sediments where organic material, sludge, and muck tend to accumulate.

The sinking puck format, 5 billion bacteria per puck, and Canadian-made formulation make Bio-dredge a higher-strength option for ponds, lakes, lagoons, and other waterbodies with more demanding biological maintenance requirements.

For best results, use Bio-dredge consistently as part of a regular maintenance program and support biological activity with adequate aeration and water circulation where appropriate.
